We had a good time checking my blog stats yesterday and got a kick out of the fact that they were higher than usual. I may have even let out a "Woo Hoo!" One of the girls asked why that was important. I said, "Well it's not really. It's just encouraging that someone would read what I post."
The little exchange made me ponder blogging. Why do I blog and why is that important? Honestly the primary reason is that its fun!
I often read religious, editorial and even professional blogs, but mostly family blogs. Oh the family blogs... what a delight to have a glimpse into other families home lives! I learn from them, am encouraged and inspired by them and find myself praying for them.
I read that years ago European families kept a family book. In it, they recorded births, deaths, crops, major events, visitors... it was passed down through the generations giving a family an incredibly rich legacy and record of their roots. I suppose a family blog sort of replicates that.
One final reason for blogging, I would be so happy if something on our blog encouraged others. We have a pretty simple life, our family's main talents are reading and cleaning. At most events at church we seem to be the sweepers and garbage taker outers. :) But we love each other, we love our faith, we love books and food, so maybe occasionally there is something we can share that will be helpful or encouraging to another reading, cleaning family out there!
God Bless families and thank you to all those wonderful examples who share their lives on their blogs!
