Like everyone else we are feeling the pinch of rising food and gasoline costs. I'm trying to tighten the budget without compromising nutrition.
We have four basic breakfasts. Always accompanied by a small glass of orange juice doctored with cod liver oil. :)
Steel cut oats with dried fruit or nuts everyone can add in as they like.
Pancakes (homemade mix) with homemade syrup.
Scrambled eggs and toast. (The eggs are from our chickens and the bread is homemade.)
On cold mornings I may treat the kids to hot cocoa with breakfast and special mornings are usually cinnamon rolls and a breakfast meat with our eggs. (Also, we'll have breakfast meat the mornings dad is home and in the mood for a hearty breakfast.)
