My blind brother Dan was adopted as a small child from war torn Vietnam. Dan has struggled as an adult, partly from spending his early years in a dreadfully impoverished orphanage in Saigon. Saigon embodied the horrors of war. It's a heavy burden to overcome. Our family was thrilled for him when he married a wonderful young woman named Melissa a few years ago.
Tonight she enters the Church.
Melissa is sighted and is a consultant for the blind. I think she is called a mobility trainer. Her job is to help those who have lost their sight learn how to manage daily life. Often she has to drive rather a distance between clients and she began to listen to Catholic radio on her long drives. About the same time she was assigned to assist an elderly nun in a cloistered order. The nuns welcomed her, befriended her and when they learned she was interested in the Church, they prayed for her. With those cloistered nuns praying... she was as good as 'in'. :)
Tonight she'll be in. Melissa's parents and my parents are driving out together to be there. Her parents are a little uncomfortable with it, but there are going to support her, God bless them.
Please pray for my sister-in-law, Melissa, and all the new Catholics entering tonight!
