We celebrated Blaise's 11th birthday last week. What a great kid! He jokes, he cooks, he sings (very nice voice) and he makes coffee. He even brings coffee to us in bed sometimes! Not mention that he is an awesome archer, lego builder and boy scout.
I do not remember why we were doing birthday pie in the living room...
For several years we have prayed that the extraordinary form of the Mass, the old Latin Mass of the centuries, would be available to us. Today for the first time in our area in nearly 40 years, a High Mass was prayed at our parish.
Encouraged by the Holy Father, Pope Benedict, and now personally by our local bishop, our good priest, Father Gerald learned to pray this beautiful Mass that was attended by most of the saints. We are very excited and awed by this blessing.
At a quiet part of the prayers my Dominic piped up, "I forgot to gel my hair, hey mom did you bring any hair gel?" Ya, we need a little practice. And next time I'll make sure he is set on hair gel before we leave the house.
More importantly, we will learn more about the Latin Mass, we are true rookies. Sancta Missa is an incredible online resource. The FAQs page is a good place to start and the videos of actual Masses are gorgeous! We are looking forward to learning it well.
