Lydia has such fine hair, we haven't tried for hair bows much yet. Today we managed to get one to stay in a little so the girls were oohing and ahhing and taking pictures. One of the boys came along and said "Yuck, it looks like her hair is in a vice."
Husband in high powered meeting with VP from some tech company and other big wigs at his desk. Wife calls once and he ignores it. Wife calls a second time and he excuses himself to take the call telling the them that she only calls twice if it is important. Husbands answers phone and writes note to self 'get chicken feed'. High powered execs burst out laughing. Husband says sheepishly, "Well turns out it wasn't that important... unless your the chickens." Meeting resumes.
Just over a year ago an Aldi grocery store opened near us. We quickly figured out what groceries were the best buys for us but it took me a while to start trying their household products. I had my favorite brands that we had been using, but it sounds so ungrateful to be reluctant to try a store brand when there are people in the world who would consider it luxury to have those store brands.
With Michigan's economy what it is, we'll be lucky if Kevin only has to take a pay freeze and pay a higher portion of his insurance premium next fiscal year. We decided our resources should be directed at what goes into our bodies not so much what goes on them. So I started trying the Aldi brand household products.
So far, I like their shampoo and conditioner. I have coarse, curly hair and Aldi's smoothing shampoo and conditioner works just fine, in fact I like them better than the more expensive product I was using. The dishwasher detergent is fine. Diapers have been surprisingly good. Usually we notice leaks with store brands, not these. The size 4 package works out to be .18 a diaper. Good price. My sister-in-law tried the toilet paper and did not like it all. The cat and dog food is good but we can get it cheaper in bulk at the farm store. I think that covers what we have tried.
Just thought I would pass on the info in case it's helpful to other frugal shoppers!
Our Knights of Columbus Council hosts a lovely Valentine Daddy Daughter Dance. The girls enjoy it immensely, the music is wholesome and their dad is a good dancer. It's a very special evening.
This was Maria's first dance. She was very nervous about being apart from me, but she danced the night away, enjoyed chocolate treats and then nearly fell asleep in a chair in the ladies room.
the very handsome dad
There's two things I know for sure:
She was sent here from heaven and she's
daddy's little girl.
As I drop to my knees by her bed at night
She talks to Jesus and I close my eyes and
I thank god for all the joy in my life
Oh, but most of all
For butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer;
sticking little white flowers all up in her
hair; "Walk beside the pony, Daddy, it's my first ride."
"I know the cake looks funny, Daddy, but I sure tried."
In all that I've done wrong I know I must
have done something right to deserve a hug
every morning and butterfly kisses at night.
Sweet 16 today
She's looking like her mama a little more everyday
One part woman, the other part girl.
To perfume and make-up from ribbons and curls
Trying her wings out in a great big world.
But I remember
Butterfly kisses after bedtime prayer; sticking
little white flowers all up in her hair.
"You know how much I love you, Daddy, But if you
don't mind I'm only gonna kiss you on the cheek this time."
With all that I've done wrong I must have done
something right to deserve her love every morning
and butterfly kisses at night.
All the precious time
Like the wind, the years go by.
Spread your wings and fly.
She'll change her name today.
She'll make a promise and I'll give her away.
Standing in the bride-room just staring at her.
She asked me what I'm thinking and I said "I'm not
sure-I just feel like I'm losing my baby girl."
She leaned over...gave me butterfly kisses with her mama there,
Sticking little white flowers all up in her hair
"Walk my down the aisle, Daddy-it's just about time."
"Does my wedding gown look pretty, Daddy? Daddy, don't cry!"
Oh, with all that I've done wrong I must have
done something right.
To deserve your love every morning and butterfly
kisses-I couldn't ask God for more, man this is what love is.
I know I gotta let her go, but I'll always remember
every hug in the morning and butterfly kisses.
