I lost a few days with that migraine. In the middle of it, we managed to celebrate Blaise's 10th birthday. 10 is big around here. When you turn 10 you get to stay up till 10:00 with the big kids. At 10, the expectations for chores, schoolwork and behavior go up considerably. When you turn 10, you get to see the Lord of the Rings movies if you have read the books.
It's fun to watch the movies through fresh eyes. I have only read the books once and that was in order to follow my own rule. But we have seen the movies so many times, we forget what was left out or what was stunningly accurate. Blaise has had lots of interesting comments since he just recently read the trilogy.
This is from a few weeks ago. I assigned Kevin J. the job of cleaning out our science/art/game closet. In the depths he found a box of rocket parts. I had no idea if all the parts were there or how to launch one if they were. He fiddled around for a while and managed to launch one. It was spectacularly high and loud.
We haven't seen these gals in a while. Alex got a nice shot as they strolled through the yard. Nice autumn scene, eh?
