Blogging backwards here. After morning Mass we had a very nice Thanksgiving dinner at my brother's house. The camera came with us but never came out of my purse. Lame blogger.
The Friday night after Thanksgiving we often go to our town's fabulous Fantasy of Lights Parade. This year our parish's Knights of Columbus hosted a hot chocolate booth. While the Knights sold hot chocolate and the youth group sang carols, some of the families gathered to enjoy the parade together. It's a pretty homey parade with local businesses, churches and scouts sponsoring lit, decorated floats. There are military honor guards who receive rousing cheers of appreciation, and high school marching bands. The children eat too much junk, it's cold and we have a grand time. It makes one grateful for small town America.
This one reminded us of Virginia Lee Burton's Katy and the Big Snow.
Although our children don't attend public school, it's awesome to live in a town where the high school marching band includes an excellent bag pipe corps who march in kilts.
It's wonderful memories like this that make small town America such a wonderful place to grow up! I love the bagpipe corp - that's just too cool! :)
