Finally. It's been a dark and difficult Lent in several ways. I am so relieved that it's over. Yet in suffering, the Lord can more easily pull us closer to Him. For brief instances the veil is pulled back a little and we can experience a tiny bit of what it means to walk Calvary with Him. A tiny bit of just how much love and mercy He has for us. When the suffering eases up we still long to cling to Him and stay close to Him. Many gifts unfold through suffering.
I am so grateful that Easter is here. Alleluia! He is risen!
We had a snowy, but sunny Easter. The Church is triumphant and joyful in her music, readings and altar flowers. The boys were not scheduled to serve but no one was serving our Mass so they volunteered. In spite of their occasional mistakes up there, I am so humbled that my boys are serving this way. It is truly a gift.
We enjoyed an Easter dinner at my parent's house. The toddlers play, the big kids visit with each other and the grown ups, and the babies get passed around. Family is also such a blessing.
On a practical note, after many years, I finally figured out to put only a small amount of candy in each child's Easter basket. That way I don't have to stress over limiting how much they eat at one time. Each day of Easter week I will put a little more in their baskets. They also get a simple toy or book. I am not much for Easter bunny silliness anyway, but hopefully keeping the Easter baskets simple, will help us all remember the reason for Easter. The great gift of the crucifixion and resurrection.
He is risen indeed!
Beautiful first paragraph, Bridget!
I was truly in tears during Mass yesterday and am just so grateful for everything!!! The girls are busy this morning playing with paperdolls, and I need to sit down for most of the morning.
May Our Lord's Resurrection bring you and your beautiful family much faith and hope! Easter Blessings from Washington to Michigan. Alleluia!
