One of our Godchildren gave us a bookstore gift certificate. I picked up Zingermans Guide to Good Eating, written by one of the founding partners of the famous Zingermans Deli in Ann Arbor. It is located near my old high school, my friends and I were some of the original customers. The book has recipes, but so much more. It's a guide to ingredients like olive oil, grains, cheeses, chocolate, tea... Who knew there were so many varieties, expensive varieties, exotic varieties?! It's heavenly just to read about.
At the bookstore, I saw another book. A dream book only. It's price tag is hefty and has little content pertaining to my real life but I hope to persuade my library to buy it. Entertaining at the White House With Nancy Reagan. It is full of lush photographs and details from impressive state dinners with royalty to a simple afternoon with Mother Teresa. It reminisces about an elegant and gracious era. If you like White House history and entertaining, it is a lovely book to dream over.
Bridget, I LOVE Zingerman's! Haven't been there in years though. Wouldn't it be great to meet there sometime?!
