An online friend of mine recently asked about how we pray through our Christmas cards. I may have blogged about it in the past, but here is what we do.
After Christmas our cards all stay in the card box on a table in the living room Each night at our family rosary we pull a card and pray for that person or family's intentions. If they sent a photo card, it went up on our bulletin board and I wrote their name on a file card and placed it in the card box. It is uncanny how many times we have pulled a card at a crucial time for someone.
After we pull the card and pray, I cut off the front of the card to use as a gift tag next year. Some can be cut down into pretty shapes. Any cards from priests or religious we keep intact. I save them in case he or she gets canonized one day. :) The card would be a relic.
I love cards and the connection with so many friends and family at Christmas. Praying through the cards keeps Christmas longer and it is a privilege to pray for those people.
We have done this for years as well. I might have to add the idea of making gift tags out of the cards, though.

What a fabulous idea! I've already recycled most of our cards, but will have to remember this for next year.

What a wonderful thing to do...may steal it for ourselves!
I am sure the people who your prayers were for felt them.
