In between Maria's bouts of croup, St. Nicholas managed to slip back in, unnoticed, to fill the children's wooden shoes. He leaves them chocolates and a book.
This year one of the children received a charming, new picture book, Christmas Day in the Morning by Pearl S. Buck.
Rob wants to get his father something special
for Christmas this year -- something that shows how much he really
loves him. But it's Christmas Eve, and he doesn't have much money to
spend. What could he possibly get? Suddenly, Rob thinks of the best
gift of all...
The children each got a wonderful, new book and all is silent right now as they are engrossed in reading them as fast as they can.
Bridget: That is one of my absolute favorite Christmas books!!!! It was one of the first ones I added to my collection after we got married. Isn't it wonderful??? I CANNOT make it through the book without shedding a tear. I want to raise children like that! Mark Buehner is a beautiful illustrator. Do you have his two "Snowmen" books?? They are Pete's favorites....with the hidden pictures, etc.
