I'm thinkin' duct tape for the toddlers. No, I'm kidding of course.
If I take the time to read to them first thing after breakfast, they are happy to play on their own for a little while. We read ABC, 123, seasonal books or whatever they ask for. The current favorite is The Seven Silly Eaters.
Then I get them started on an activity and they will usually play for a while giving me time to focus on the older kids school work.
I make sure the toddlers have plenty of time in the sandbox, playing with the animals, riding their bikes up and down the driveway or coloring (hopefully on paper), building and stacking.
Formal preschool work is unnecessary but this looks fun. Preschool activity bags, designed with a busy homeschooling family in mind. I intend to try it.
The little ones are very sweet, funny and active. Their bodies and minds are made to be on the move. I don't want to neglect their early childhood because I am busy with the older children. The time is so precious, they are discovering heaps of new things each day. I want to be there for it. And if I facilitate their activities, I have a better chance at preventing the 'daily toddler disaster'.
Thanks for the lead on the Activity Bags. That's just what I have been looking for!!!
