So baby chicks are a lot like any new baby. They sleep for about 2 minutes at a time, eat like their famished, fuss and make cute noises, and poop. And poop. And poop.
They are fun to watch. They will fall asleep standing up. You can see their eyes close and their little head droop. Then they sway and nearly fall over when another one bangs into them. (They are not overly courteous to one another.)
Other times they gather in a little cluster and sit down to sleep. They will spread their tiny wings and rest their heads forward on their beaks.
But, like any group of young 'uns , there is always a trouble maker. She will turn around from the feeder, see a group sleeping peacefully, shout 'kowabunga!', take a running leap and jump on top of her sleeping broodermates, scattering them everywhere.
