We rarely eat breakfast cereal unless I can find it on sale and use double coupons to buy it. And I do not buy the sugary kinds, I wouldn't even if they were free. (No fun mom here!)
When we do have cereal, the kids think it is a treat and are thrilled to eat it. I always have it in my head that I'm getting a breakfast preparation break in the morning. Ha! The reality is that someone will knock the box over and spill some. Someone else will accidentally dump their bowl, full of milk and cereal, on the floor. This is way more clean up than there is with eggs and toast.
And breakfast goes on forever. It takes them a long time to feel full on boxed cereal. An hour later they need second breakfast (hobbit style) because they really weren't full after all.
Some break, huh.
The breakfast goes on forever and the party never ends, as Robert Earl Keen said.
