We have completed two weeks as new enrollees in Seton's home school curriculum. I have been pleased with their lessons plans. They have many suggestions for literature, projects and teaching tips included in the plans.
The books Seton publishes are beautiful! I’m no historian, but the eighth grade American History for Young Catholics appears well written, interesting and has plenty of helpful visuals and thoughtful questions. It’s one of my favorites.
One thing I noticed right away was that, with the pressure off myself to create exciting, creative lesson plans, I feel free to do some of the fun extras. I KNOW the basics are being covered.
The workload has not seemed as arduous as I expected it to. We have not tackled the dreaded book reports yet, but the literature suggestions for them are excellent and the children have already read their assigned books in these first weeks.
I do not hand the children their workbooks and expect them to learn. We do some work together, they narrate what they read to me, we go over the discussions questions orally, or we look up further information on the Internet. The key is for me to be involved and enthusiastic about what they are working on.
That enthusiasm is not hard to come by, I truly love home schooling my children!
Seton sounds like a super fit for you right now - the lesson plans sure sound complete. I am so glad that you and your family are having a great start to the year - and I like your blog. :-)

I love the pictures of the children peacefully at work. It has made me long to start up school here. Congrats on the beautiful blog.

I, too, truly love homeschooling my children. It is a gift that I am so grateful to have been given.
