I taught the kids to sing The Farmer's in the Dell this week. It's fun but I don't know how one little children's song can cause so many, ahem, issues.
My husband and his friend taught Dominic to sing a new verse. ' The farmer takes the beer, the farmer takes the beer...' I know this is going to embarrass me at some moment. So I will preempt any embarrassment by posting it publicly myself.
The children could not get past 'the nurse takes the child'. They scoffed, "It's not her child. Nurses work at the pediatrician's office and the hospital where they help mommy have babies. They don't take children."
Today I heard kids on the front porch singing, then a pause.
Five year old: Whats a dell?
Eight year old (knowingly): a computer.
